DocuSign envelope

DocuSign's container that holds the documents, recipients, and signature fields for a single signing.

In Depth

An envelope is not the document itself. Think of it as the folder wrapped around everything a signing needs: one or more documents, the list of people who have to sign, the fields they must complete, and a running status of where things stand. Once every recipient has finished their assigned fields, the envelope is complete.

Consistent across the US, UK and EU. This is a product-specific term defined by DocuSign, so it means the same thing wherever the software is used.
